This little plant is everywhere at the moment. It is carpeting parts of my lawn, laying really low and the flowers are a lot paler than this photo, which I took up on the Downs close to Goodwood racecourse.
When you look at the detail it is amazing – the purple flower is so intricate and is often striped with white. It flowers on through June and is very popular with bees and some butterflies.
