I spent ages tryimg to find out what this flower is! Such a pretty, pink, five-pointed star-like beauty with golden anthers, tucked in the grasses of a deforested area in West Dean Woods.

Richard – our Lavant wildflower expert – came to my rescue! I think that part of my problem was that its size varies so much according to conditions.

Dr Bach considers it to beone of the 38 essential remedies. I quote here what it is used for:

Centaury
…is for people who find it difficult to say ‘no’ to others.

Centauries are kind, gentle souls and like to help. But sometimes other more ruthless people take advantage of this, and instead of being a willing servant the Centaury person ends up the slave of another’s wishes.

The Centaury remedy doesn’t harden us or make us callous. Instead it supports the development of courage and self-determination.
