Well I’ve just found out how to make picked bluebells survive indoors! Horror of horrors – I always thought that you mustn’t pick them – but according to Sarah Raven we don’t need to resist the temptation – it is tramping over the leaves or pulling out the bulb that will kill them. She also gave a tip on how to get them to survive once you have picked a handful – sear the stem ends in boiling water for about fifteen seconds and then they’ll last for a week in a vase. I can’t wait to give it a go! Let’s hope it is a good year for them!
