About a year ago I walked the same way as I did this afternoon. Up onto Levin Down from the Drovers area just to the north of Singleton. It’s a beautiful route and I always see buzzards wheeling high together in the sky. Sometimes kites too.

Last year I took a photo of the start of a new line of traditional Sussex hedging. And today I saw how strong and impressive it now is. I hadn’t realised that there is a South of England Hedgelaying Society, whose aims are to preserve this ancient and traditional craft. There is even a yearly competition day and training courses.
