This poem is rarely read in full – rather the second verse is often used at funerals and memorials with the very last word changed to read ‘eternity’ instead of ‘not’. I think it is a shame to omit and change parts of a poem to suit a particular occasion – it’s a bit like showing only part of a work of art….
Hours fly,
Flowers die
New days,
New ways,
Pass by.
Love stays.

Time is
Too Slow for those who Wait,
Too Swift for those who Fear,
Too Long for those who Grieve,
Too Short for those who Rejoice;
But for those who Love,
Time is not.
