I have only seen this wildflower near the tunnel on the Goodwood Downland Golf Course. It is exceptionally attractive – all the little flowers crowd together to make a deep yellow pompom. It provides a good source of nectar for the bumblebee – this is the only insect that is strong enough to open the flowers to get the pollen. Apparently, once this is done the head becomes pale and woolly. Also the smallest British butterfly, the Small Blue needs it to feed its caterpillars
