Tom was due to be on duty at 9am this morning – but got an email telling him to be at the Yacht Club by 8.45am – a quick scramble into clothes and then off in the pouring rain. Three of them – Arshia, Suzie and Tom were going to a local private school to talk about their experience on the first leg. I suddenly remembered that I needed to return the car and decided that I should let Tom know I wouldn’t be in the flat. Arrrgh I got pretty drenched by the time I got back at about 11.30. Tom returned about 1pm and after a little rest we went to buy a salad lunch at Disco! 4pm we had a great chat with Liv via Zoom – I’m missing her so very much – I’ve been away so long. We carry on chatting after Tom has to go to a Watch Briefing. Liv really wants to know what has made Tom make up his mind to leave Clipper either in Cape Town or Fremantle. We are all very happy with this decision – it’s not a case of giving up it’s simply that he has realised he has other priorities and to carry on until next September seems like wasting his precious time. Of course, I am over the moon – there’s now so much to look forward to next year. I’ve got even more of a spring in my step now – life is now very very good! It was good before but now…. It takes something like this to realise what is important in life – me too – not just Tom.
The wine tasting party is really enjoyable – lots of very nice people to talk to – Angela in particular – such a sweet nature – no posturing at all. We were both disappointed that the Albarino that we’d saving ourselves for was all drunk up long before the end of the party. Now we must make sure we go somewhere to try it before Tom leaves on Wednesday.
We wander along the Playa Mansa to the Virazon Restaurant for a simple dinner. Perhaps we shouldn’t have ordered Caiparinas …… they were pretty luscious though! hmmm mmmmmmm! An evening never ever to be forgotten!
