It is the leaves of the sorrel that are used in the kitchen – either as salad leaves or in stews – though having tasted them I’m not that keen! The leaves grow quite lush at the bottom of the plant and the tiny, deep pinky-red flowers are at the end of the skinny long stem. Sorrel is related to the dock family.
