The day starts off with rain – I still keep my fingers crossed that it will stop before my city tour starts! I’m already running late – Ann Marie asked for brek at 8 and I don’t get up until ten to! But then when I take it in to her and her son, Forrest she’s raring to have a chat – I don’t realise how long for though and I rush back to the kitchen to find I only have twenty minutes to have my own breakfast and in the shower and out the door. I am concerned because many of the local roads are closing because of the marathon. I am very lucky as I get through easily and have plenty of time to relax before I meet my Ravenna group. Shelagh takes the English contingent and Carla and I have fun with the Italians. They are really enthusiastic and I even show them the marks for nine mens morris! I learn the Italian for bishop – Vescovo! and the word for flint – something like sechey!
Then coffee with Shelagh and home for an hour till I went for tea with Tom and Carol – now he really IS off his tr……. but in a funny sweet way. I may be too… and will definitely be after a year alone. Carol brought in scones and tea! Rogie was a tinker as he clearly didn’t want to sit outside in the sunshine looking in on us eating so he started that really indignant bark until we couldn’t chat anymore! So in he came… I wish I could have slipped him my scone – it was sooooooooooooo cloying that I could hardly swallow and then try to talk. It just kept getting wedged in the roof of my mouth. Also Margarine instead of butter or cream….. yeuchhhhh !!!! I had taken them some banana cake, which Billie had made and I passed it off as mine, but could hardly say I preferred a piece of that.
Then home again for a catch up and out to do the Allen and Overy tour at Goodwood. Always a feel good tour and they seemed to love it – well I hope so. I was tempted to open a bottle of wine when I got back, but seems a bit daft by myself. Then a couple of hours doing my history course. Then a bit of yoga before bed!
