Sweet Violet – well I think so!

I think this little chap must be sweet violet as it is flowering so early. Common dog violet flowers from April on and it’s only the beginning of March! But I was just too lazy to get down to smell it. It is very popular for fritillery butterflies. In the past sweet violets used to be strewn on the floors of churches and cottaages to conceal bad smells!
