The grey weather continues along with the gale force winds, but that really doesn’t matter as I feel so very relaxed and happy. I thought I’d have oodles of time to read and write out here, but there always seems to be things to do and food to eat!

Today we go to Les Delices for lunch. I had really high hopes, for when I arrived, I had spotted this chiviteria on my very first walk and made a mental note to return. With 36 different salads and loads of fancy sandwiches – I was thinking that it would live up to its name. Hmmmm…… the pictures tell all don’t they! But what cannot be seen is the margarine spread liberally on the whiter than white bread! Brrrrr sends shivers down my spine even to think about it. Patricia helps me wash it all down ….. ha ha fancy a Cerveza called Patricia! Can you imagine ordering a half of Sally or Lizzie at home!

We don’t linger long as Tom has an appointment with a backgammon board at the Yacht Club. Clipper friend, young Andy has provided grounded chat during the long days on board and so Tom is keen to keep in touch once he’s back in dry ground for good.

At six pm there is a business meeting that Tom stays on for in the yacht club. He seems really fired up when I arrive down shortly after eight pm – back to his old self – no longer totally swallowed up by the Clipper regime. Maybe that too has been part of my problem over the last year – seeing his feistiness and individualism vanish – yes often pretty irritating, but I realise now I love him for being just like that and have found it so hard to accept the Clipper veneer which has masked his uniqueness.

Whilst a further game is underway, I get sucked into a conversation about the positivity of a survival attitude. Yes all very well, but I think it is wrong to believe that someone who has succumbed to something terrible has done so because he or she didn’t believe enough..

The all important question – where shall we go for dinner? Boca Chica must surely be open tonight…. no such luck so as it is starting to rain, we find somewhere close by and it turns out to be excellent. We sit in the window of l’Atelier watching the rain pour down and chat about nothing much! Milk flavoured helados for pudding!
