Wednesday’s departure is beginning to loom – though neither of us feel particularly stressed by this – well I don’t as there’s nothing for me to be anxious about any more – though I’m sure Tom must be beginning to wonder how this next leg is going to be…. It is a lot shorter which can only be good.
The weather is starting to get warmer and the sun is shining – so we walk to the boat as Tom has to muck in and I decide to go for a long walk along the Mansa side of Punta. I’m feeling increasingly stiff despite climbing up the six flights of stairs to the flat at least half a dozen times a day. Maybe that’s what is making me so sore!! The walk is idyllic and I stop off to gaze at the sea lions and fur seals for ages. It’s funny to be many thousands of miles away from home and keep on bumping into people I know – well of course I don’t really ‘know’ them at all but it’s good to see friendly faces! I spend about half an hour on the exercise machines to loosen my joints and a funny little dog keeps barking at me! On the way back I bump into the ‘Harrys’ – Andy is almost silent – is he terribly upset about leaving Clipper or is he burning with indignation inside? The stories that Sandra and he recount about the Bermuda skipper sound appalling. I suddenly realise that I said I’d be back at the flat by one in order to have lunch before Tom’s big meeting at the Enjoy Hotel. I’ve been invited to join a groupies get together at the same time – 3.30pm and when I arrive they are all drinking huge glasses of wine. Luckily I can make my escape when I am told that the buses to MVD are nearly all booked up. So I rush off to the bus station – no problem at all to book on the 8am departure!!! Then I realise Tom’s meeting is over and he won’t be able to get into the flat. So I hare back just in time.
We stay very local for dinner in the evening – I decide upon the ‘best’ restaurant – Lo de Ter – but as soon as we walk in I realise that it’s not quite what I’d been expecting and hoping. A bit to nouvelle cuisine for my liking – Tom’s risotto is just a bit too aromatic and my fish of the day is a bit too dull. The shared starter is nice though – quinoa with avocado. There’s lots of Clipper people all having ‘last’ dinners …..
