What an amazing wildflower! We discovered this clump right by the sign for Northwood Farm in Slindon. It is wildlife’s version of the delphinium! It goes down a storm with bees and butterflies as it is dripping with nectar.

Where did its spectacular name come from? Before the flower’s buds break open they resemble the heads of snakes. Bugloss refers to the shape of the leaves – bou a Greek word meaning cow or ox and a Latin word glosso meaning tongue.
