Now this is a plant that I really must encourage to grow in my wild patch or maybe, even better, alongside one of the fences. Why on earth it has such a dreadful name I have no idea. 

This plant has been cultivated since neolithic times to be used to make one of the most important bright yellow dyes – hence its other name – Dyer’s Rocket. It was one of the ancient trio of medieval dyers plants – with Woad for blue and Wild Madder for red
