Flat Sedge

This spikey grass stick came from nowhere a few years ago! I have now found out that it is a type of sedge, but I don’t think it is native to South Downs! Its official name is cyperus eragrostis or more commonly known as flat sedge or nut grass or nut sedge. I will not be encouraging it to grow!!
